OnePlus 6T is simply one of the latest smartphone to be unveiled by OnePlus company in October 2018. The OnePlus 6T is the updated or upgraded version of recently launched OnePlus 6.
Since 2016, starting with the One Plus 3 and 3T, the smartphone manufacturer has been releasing specs juicy devices every year, increasing the pressure on fellow smartphone companies.
The T variant (which is basically an upgraded version of the original) are usually unveiled to the public towards the ending of the year (November in 2016 and 2017 but now in October in 2018).
That been said, let’s take a closer look at the 6T which include its specifications, how much has changed since the Oneplus 6.
OnePlus 6T : What You Need to Know
- The 6T is the first flagship phone released in the October 2018 with an in-display fingerprint sensor.
- The sensor’s lightning fast and amazing.
- OnePlus has parted ways with the 3.5mm port. A USB-C dongle is included in the box.
Android 9.0 Pie with OyxgenOS included.
- A new night photography feature aims to improve low-light shots
Like the previously released OnePlus 6 device, you get great performance, solid design, capable cameras, long lasting battery with support for fast charging functionality, and compared to other high end devices like the samsung S9, iphone X, it is still cheap which is a knock out for the competition.
Design & Display
A couple of things have change between the 6 and 6T when it comes to design. There is a different type of Notch (a tear or water drop notch to be precise) on the 6T. Inside the notch are the earpiece, selfie camera and ambient light sensor.
On the 6T, the fingerprint scanner is neither rear mounted not front mounted but in-display. That’s the fingerprint scanner is embedded under its Optic AMOLED display.
Sorry to the lovers of 3.5mm headphone jack. You say why? Well, it is because it is no longer available on the 6T. According to OnePlus, the on-screen fingerprint and bigger battery crammed into the 6T took too much space that the only way to prevent the phone from being ridiculously big is to let go of the headphone jack.screen on the 6T from OnePlus
The 6T is designed from the current best of Corning, the Gorilla Glass 6 both on the front and back. Even as that, there is still no support for wireless charging.
Placement of power button, volume button, alert slider, dual rear camera, SIM card slot, USB Type-C port, speaker and microphone remain the same as the 6.
Display wise, the 6T is a 6.41-inch optic AMOLED display smartphone featuring 2340 x 1080 pixels (Full HD) screen resolution and 402 PPI pixel density. The screen is bright with awesome color reproduction.
Performance, Operating System & Storage.
OnePlus 6T is powered by one of the most powerful SoC in the mobile world right now. The same processor in all Android flagships since late 2017. Talking of Snapdragon 845 alongside Adreno 630 GPU.
With options for 6GB and 8GB of RAM and internal storage starting at 128GB up to 256GB, you should have no doubt the device will handle anything thrown at it with ease.
It is not just powerful, it is also very fast. Response to command is very swift and appealing.
The 6T runs on Oxygen OS based on Android 9.0 Pie out of the box.
Battery, Camera & Connectivity.
It is packed with 3700 mAh battery capacity with support for dash charge that can fully charge the device from 0% in less than 80 minutes.
OnePlus didn’t make any tweaks to the camera hardware in the 6T. Like the 6, the new model sports a dual-lens rear shooter with a 16-megapixel and 20-MP lens and a 20-MP front-facing lens.
But the company made some software enhancements to boost photo quality, particularly in portraits and at night. A new Night mode, lengthens the exposure time to capture more detail in low-light settings.
Unfortunately, that exposure doesn’t do much to enhance the quality of a low-light image. The 6T doesn’t have the best camera around, but it gets the job done. If you need a smartphone that can take amazing photos, the Pixel 3 or iPhone XR are better camera phones. But for every other task, it’s tough to top the OnePlus 6T.
There is support for USB Type-C, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi, NFC, GPS and dual Nano SIM.

OnePlus 6T Final verdict
The OnePlus 6T is a pro version of the OnePlus 6 rather than a completely new device design. However, it does have some of the best features likely to become popular in 2019 with the in-screen fingerprint scanner.
If you are a huge camera lover, the OnePlus 6T camera delivers, and other cool features like IP-rated water resistance and wireless charging. The core OnePlus appeal remains, though. It is much cheaper than phones that are fundamentally comparable aside from a few extra features only some will actually appreciate.
OnePlus has maintained standards. It’s availability that has increased this time.
